Craftsmanship Chronicles: Showcasing Successful Renovation Stories

Craftsmanship Chronicles

The only constant in this world is change. Here are some stories on how renovation is a powerful testament to how we can adapt and innovate.

Imagine living in a home with leaky faucets, peeling wallpaper, creaking floors, and moldy kitchens. Dealing with an old house isn’t just about accepting how outdated everything is, but also about navigating the daily inconveniences that come with it.

Beyond these daily inconveniences, there’s the impact on the property’s value. A dilapidated space not only makes daily life difficult but also diminishes your home’s investment potential. According to Today’s Homeowner’s ROI of Your Home Remodel report, remodeling projects can increase your return on investment (ROI) by an average of 69%. Of course, the actual ROI can vary depending on the type of project, the location of the home, and the total investment involved.

Many people face this dual reality—living with constant annoyances and watching their property value suffer—until they decide it’s time for a change. When that decision is made, the journey from a dilapidated space to a dream home begins.

True RJF Craftsmanship: Our Renovation Stories

We recently had the opportunity to work on two dilapidated apartments in the heart of Plymouth. These were some fixer-uppers that needed some serious TLC. Residents had to work with old and inefficient appliances, worn-out cabinets, dated countertops, outdated plumbing fixtures, old tiles, and more.

It was clear that a gut-to-the-studs demolition was the only way forward.

Our goal was simple: transform these outdated spaces into modern, stylish apartments anyone would be proud to call home. From our electricians to plumbers to tile specialists, everyone had a part to play in this transformation journey.

The Renovation Process

We stripped everything down to the studs, ensuring we could start working with a fresh slate. Safety is always our top priority, and we took every precaution so the demolition was done right.

Once the old was out, it was time to bring in the new. We opted for Blueboard and plaster for the walls and ceilings—materials that offer durability and a smooth finish. Then came the kitchens and bathrooms. The old fixtures were removed, we added new tile shower stalls, and brand-new bath and kitchen cabinets were installed. Finally, we picked modern appliances that complement the sleek new design, bringing functionality and style to the refreshed spaces.

By the time we were finished, these two eyesores had been transformed into luxury downtown Plymouth apartments.
